Neuropsychology Rehabilitation

Neuropsychological rehabilitation is concerned with the enhancement of cognitive, emotional, psychosocial and behavioural difficulties caused by brain disease or injury. All of these areas are interlinked and targeted in a holistic approach.

Rehabilitation Therapy

There is growing evidence for the benefits of mindfulness training in neuropsychology rehabilitation. Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) target cognitive and emotional difficulties experienced in a variety of conditions, showing to bring about improved functioning and overall quality of life.

Mindfulness may be described as paying attention, on purpose to what is taking place in the present moment, without judgment. We are all mindful, to a greater and lesser extent, but this skill can be learnt and nurtured with training to improve emotional well-being, reduce stress and assist in treating many psychological and physical conditions.

I offer evidence-based eight-week individual and group mindfulness training:

    - Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

MBCT is a structured intervention combining elements of cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness strategies to help individuals better understand and manager their thoughts and emotions to reduce distress and improve emotion regulation. Although MBCT was originally developed to treat recurrent depression, the intervention has shown to be beneficial to people seeking treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions.

    - Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is a structured program that aims to alleviate stress and improve overall well-being. It combines mindfulness meditation and awareness techniques with movement and cognitive-behavioural strategies. Participants in MBSR learn to cultivate present-moment awareness, non-judgmental observation of their thoughts and emotions, and mindful responses to stressors. By practicing these skills regularly, individuals can enhance their ability to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve their overall mental and physical health, making MBSR a valuable tool for promoting resilience and emotional well-being.
